Question by Dave: What higher level sales jobs can you get from having car sales and other sales experiences/skills?
If you’ve been in car sales for a couple years, are there any other types of sales jobs that you might be able to get (with having that kind of experience) that would pay even more? Corporate jobs? Someone suggested diamond sales? Relationship selling? Any ideas? I’m trying to gather all my options here because I want to get out of car sales and into something higher paying that I might enjoy even more and that will challenge me MORE too…

I can’t go into salary but I can tell you as a former car sales person you could do Business to Business sales, Mortgage Sales, consumer banking and even advertising sales. When hiring for these positions HR reps usually look for individuals with confidence and experience in sales. If you have a great sales record you will definitely stand out from the rest of the crowd. Before applying for any sales position I would look at the job requirements and expectations, then write down 10 reasons why I feel I could fill this position. The main factor for these positions is confidence, as long as you’re well spoken, professional and have at least 2 years in sales (which you do) you will be fine. Wishing you the best of luck.

Question by Esmerelda B: What are some summer jobs that 13 year olds can do?
I’m looking to make some money and I noticed that all my friends have a summer job but I’m not really interested in berry picking. Is there any jobs that 13 year olds can do during the summer for a decent pay? I don’t care about hours.
I also heard something about starting out as a busboy at a young age. How old do you have to be?

Question by makeshiftmagic: What employment opportunities are there for people with disabilities?
Here’s the deal: My mother is 55 and has had multiple failed back surgeries. She can’t really get around without help and is in pain and on pain medication most of the time. Presently, she is in a nursing home in Florida. I live in Chicago.
She wants to get out of the nursing home because it is very depressing for her. A lot of the residents are older and have more severe illnesses. The problem is that my mother does not have any money saved up and I am only in my lower 20s and am not financially stable myself.
On the plus side, she is a fairly intelligent women and has a master’s degree in English.
Question: Does anyone know of any employment opportunities for a person suffering from a similar illness? Also, what other living options are there for people in her situation?
Any advice would be helpful. Even if you just know of an org or advocacy group to contact would be great. Thank you.

She might be able to do work from home, perhaps in editing.
Contact the United Way in her area, and see if there is some occupational assessments that can be done for your mom, and possibly career placement, as well.
United Way is the fastest track to get your mother all the help she needs, because they have people who are experienced in linking all the available resources. Good luck — I hope you’ll also get your mom in to see a pain management specialist. It can make a world of difference.

Look at the websites of your local newspaper. And don’t just rely on the web – get out in your area and look, and apply to local places, especially any with help wanted signs out.
